What are Mycotoxins?

Exposure to airborne mycotoxins has been associated with respiratory issues, immune system suppression, and in severe cases, conditions like pulmonary hemorrhage. Some molds, such as Stachybotrys chartarum, are known to produce highly potent toxins that can damage the lungs, skin, and digestive tract.
Health effects vary depending on the individual’s age, health, genetics, and level of exposure. Because indoor environments can contain complex mixtures of mold spores and toxins, symptoms may not always match classic toxicology profiles.
Although more research is needed to establish exact cause-and-effect relationships, the presence of toxigenic mold in indoor spaces is a strong indicator of potential health risk. Early detection and proper remediation are critical to protecting occupants from long-term harm.
